Welcome to our Plant and Seed Exchange Homepage!
As Gino and I renovate and build our gardens, it is always nice to introduce and trade to others; new and old favorite plants, trees, shrubs and flowers. Living on the edge of Zone 10, pushing towards 9, we are able to grow a variety of beautiful tropicals and subtropicals. Through our Plant and Exchange Pages, we are able to expand our collection, and hopefully yours too!
Being on that edge, we can also grow a few of the less 'freeze hour' fruit trees and shrubs that somebody would normally find further north.
We are currently growing concord grapes, and wild blackberries from a more northern exposure. The grapes are sooo sweet and juciy, that this year we started our first cuttings from them. The stock is at least 30 years old. Perhaps this fall when they ripen, we'll try our hand at a few bottles of wine.
We have also recently started a small watergarden. And when our cooler fall months begin to return, we are going to completely cover it and create a screen-house/conservatory of sorts. The weather now is already beginning to heat up, and working in the hot Florida summer sun is no easy task.
We are also in the process of building a Lath House, so we can expand our variety of seedlings.
Plant Exchanges
The plants found on our Plant Exchange page are updated at least once a week. Throughout the year, we make plant cuttings from the many species we currently own. This means that not all of the plants we keep will be available at the same times, so check back with us every now and then, to find out what new rootings we have!
We never send out any plants that aren't fully rooted. Whenever possible, we will post pictures of the actual rootings themselves. They are packed carefully and should arrive in perfect condition. Some are packed bare root and others are sent wrapped in newspaper with damp sphagnum moss. It just depends upon the species. We promise you your exchange will arrive in perfect shape!
Seed Exchanges
In almost all cases, the seed we have is very fresh, some even just days old. We will always place the year the seed is for, or if we collect it ourselves, the actual date it was collected for useage.
The seed is bubble-wrapped to protect it, and depending on it's size, sent in manila envelope or even boxed.
We hope that you will join in trading with us.
